If you’re still using WhatsApp on older smartphone, it’s time to change your smartphone. From today 1st June 2025 WhatsApp will no longer will on the listed devices mentioned below. Meta Inc announced that WhatsApp app will no longer work on iOS & Android devices that are running on iOS 15 or earlier andAndroid 5.0 or earlier.
WhatsApp stop working on which smartphones?
From June 1, WhatsApp will not work on iPhones running on iOS 15 or earlier versions. Along with this, WhatsApp will also stop working on Android 5.0 or earlier versions.

Why WhatsApp Stopped working on Older Devices
WhatsApp rolls out security patches time to time to safeguard app users. Older operating systems no longer receive regular security patch updates from Apple and Google, it makes them more vulnerable to cyberattacks. To maintain user safety and app performance, WhatsApp’s parent company Meta Inc is has set a new minimum requirement of iOS 15.1 and Android 5.1 to continue using WhatsApp.
My phone is in the list of WhatsApp unsupported devices, what to do?
First of all don’t panic. Open phone settings and go to system update, see if your smartphone OS is above android 5 or iOS 15. If your smartyphone brand has released a new android update, make sure to install it.
f WhatsApp works after phone update then its good for you. If not, you’re advised to back up your WhatsApp chats before June 1. To do this, open WhatsApp, go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup, and follow the instructions to save your chat backup on Google Drive or iCloud.
If you make a backup, then you will be able to easily recover your chats in your new phone.
