Big Update in Telecom! Vodafone Idea Posts Rs.7,166 Crore Loss in Q4, Board Approves Rs.20000 crore fund raise

Vodafone Idea’s financial condition seems very bad in FY24-25, as the company reported a net loss of Rs.7,166.1 crore, compared from Rs.6,609.3 crore in the previous quarter. A net loss of Rs.7,674.6 crore posted in the same period last year.

Vi’s Revenue from operations dropped marginally to Rs.11,013.5 crore in Q4 from Rs.11,117.3 crore in Q3, reflecting a decline of 0.93%. Total income also down to Rs.11,228.3 crore, down 1.22% quarter-on-quarter, while expenses raised by 2.35% to Rs.18,396.4 crore..

The average revenue per user (ARPU)saw an improvement, from Rs.153 a year ago to Rs.175 at present, All thanks to tariff hike. The company posted a 3.8% revenue growth year-on-year basis but it wasn’t enough to resolve the financial pressure on Vodafone Idea.

After the financial year end in March 2025, Vodafone Idea’s total loss is at Rs.27,383.4 crore. Its net worth remains in the red at negative ₹70,320.2 crore. The company also faces a massive debt, where ₹2,345.1 crore owed to banks and ₹1.95 lakh crore in deferred spectrum and AGR dues, payable over the next 20 years.

To reduce financial pressure, Vodafone Idea’s board has approved a fundraising plan of up to ₹20,000 crore. The company is also in discussions with the government for relief on its long-standing AGR dues, even after the Supreme Court recently rejected a plea to waive interest and penalties.
