National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced a new feature UPI Circle. This new UPI circle feature helps to perform digital payments customers without a bank account. UPI Circle aims to simplify payments for children, senior citizens, and rural populations who face technical issues to use UPI.
UPI payments without bank account
With UPI Circle, users without bank account or with no balance in bank account can do UPI payments. The feature is built on a primary and secondary users based system. NPCI has launched this feature for all UPI customers.

How does UPI circle work?
The primary UPI user needs to have a bank account and create the UPI Circle. Now the primary user can send an invitation to a secondary user’s UPI app. Once the invitation is accepted, the secondary user can start doing UPI payments from the primary user’s account without adding any bank account into UPI app.
UPI Circle Limits
The primary user can set limits for UPI circle payments. Primary user can set a fixed payment amount for a specific period, or can approve each transaction manually. If first limit is set then the secondary user can do payments directly within the set limit. For second limit, second user needs to get his/her UPI payments manually by the primary user of that UPI circle.
All UPI transactions can be viewed in the transaction history section of the UPI app.
Benefits of UPI Circle
- Parents now can allow Children to make payments without cash.
- Senior citizens can now make payments without bank account.
- In rural areas with limited banking facilities, this feature will increase financial inclusion.
- Primary user can control the UPI payments and revoke unauthorized transactions.
All UPI Circle payments will be performed through NPCI UPI server. They will reduce frauds and increase UPI Circle payment success.
