Popular social media platform Facebook has introduced a new restriction for users. Now on only Meta Verified subscribers can set or change their page usernames.
This means if you’re trying to set a new unique username for your Facebook page, you are now required to subscribe to Meta Verified first for that page.
Users trying to update their page usernames are now met with the message:
“As a Meta Verified subscriber, changes to your profile can only be made after we’ve verified your information.“
Meta’s is encouraging businesses & users to subscribe to its Meta Verified program. Meta Verified program offers features like increased visibility, impersonation protection, and allow you to set username for your facebook page.
For many creators and businesses, customized facebook page username is a basic need for brand building. This new rule could spark frustration among non-subscribers, especially small businesses and newby creators who rely on Facebook for outreach.
As of now Meta hasn’t officially announced this update in a public statement yet. But feature is noticed among users and they shared this on Reddit forums.
